Downflow units push cold air down under a raised server room floor, where it comes up directly through perforated tiles in front of the server racks (creating cold aisles). Upflow units push cold air upwards, often into a duct system or directly into the room, typically used when a raised floor is not available.
N+1 means having the required number of cooling units to handle the server load (N), plus one independent backup unit (+1). If a primary unit fails or requires routine maintenance, the backup automatically kicks in to ensure zero downtime for your servers.
